Explore the planning process while touring the mile-long section of the C&O Canal that runs through Georgetown. Learn about plans to restore and revitalize the linear National Historic Park with Brendan Wilson, supervisory park ranger, Georgetown District and representatives from Georgetown Heritage. Walk from the canal towpath’s zero-mile marker to the Alexandria aqueduct, noting new ideas intended to create sustainable, maintainable, ecologically sensitive, safe and accessible urban places for diverse users. Expect uneven walking surfaces and some stair climbing.
