SoD_MAD_Nanjing-Zendai-Himalayas-Center.jpgSince its founding in 2004, the Beijing-based architecture firm MAD Architects has been committed to developing futuristic, organic designs that embody a contemporary interpretation of the Eastern spirit of nature. MAD’s works incorporate sustainable design and advanced architecture technology to achieve harmony with natural and urban environments. Recent focus on the design philosophy “Shanshui City” guides MAD to create a new balance among individuals, the city and the environment through new forms of architecture. Founding principal Ma Yansong explains how the firm's contemporary use of this ancient art form in projects including the Nanjing Zendai Himalayas Center and the Chaoyang Park Plaza is relevant in meeting the environmental needs of today's cities.
