6–7:30 pm Panel
Proposed gondola linking Georgetown with Rosslyn, VAInternational and domestic experts describe urban gondola transportation systems to inform a discussion about the proposed gondola connecting Georgetown, D.C. with Rosslyn, Virginia. Georgetown, a historically significant and vibrant commercial, residential and employment area, lacks a connection to Washington’s Metrorail system. Rosslyn is set for major commercial and residential redevelopment. These conditions have fostered an exploration of transportation solutions to connect the two communities. Panelists discuss precedents of successful gondola systems around the world and examine the feasibility of implementing one locally.

Panelists include:
Otto Condon, ZGF Architects
Rafael Nanclares, former secretary for transport and traffic in Medellin, Colombia
Brett Dodson, tram and operations manager, Oregon Health and Science University, Portland, Oregon
Richard Eisenhauer, Portland Bureau of Transportation
Roger Lewis, professor emeritus of architecture, University of Maryland (moderator)
