Richard King, creator and director of the Solar Decathlon in Washington, D.C., offers a behind-the-scenes view of the biennial competition held on the National Mall in October. This year’s competition showcases sustainable homes developed by 19 university teams, with award categories including affordability and best overall design. 1.0 LU HSW-SD (AIA)

Building for the 21st Century is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.

Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Registration is for event planning purposes only and does not guarantee a seat. Online registration for Museum programs closes at midnight the day before the scheduled program.

The Museum's award-winning Shop and Firehook Café are open for one hour prior to the start of the program. Shop and Café hours are subject to change.
